[2] Nour ElSherbini (EGY) 3-1 [4] Gina Kennedy (ENG) 11-4, 10-12, 11-3, 11-9 (43m)
Although Gina played a very stop start game yesterday again hard hitter Farida Mohamed, it was a bit of a shock to the system for the English lady in the first game, quickly over, 6m, 11/4!
But a change of position on the T, a bit more variation in her shot, excellent width, and suddenly, we have a new Gina, assertive, looking to win the point to the front and not just wanted to keep the ball alive. 6/3 to the English, 8/5, but a good response from the Egyptian, 8/8. Gina will need three game balls but she’ll close the game, to the delight of the home crowd.
Nour didn’t enjoy that game AT ALL and the response is a biting one, 11/3, 7m!
A sort of replicate of the second game for the fourth, not a point between them from 0/0 to 5/5, but Gina cannot contain the Egyptian Princess, and it’s a heart crushing result for the English crowd, that would have loved the 5th game, 11/9 in 9m.
Nour : “Gina is such a tough player, she’s a fighter and I expected a tough match. The first game says nothing really because she came back and I’m happy to win so looking forward to tomorrow.
“Every game is different and you have to accept that players can change their games so each game has a different situation. She came back a bit more aggressive in game two, so I had to adapt.
“I’m playing well, happy with how I’m playing and moving. the second half has been stronger than the first so hoping to carry that on.
“Let’s hope for a good match tomorrow, I’ve been here before and it’s good to be in the final and good to be in with a chance to be World No.1 too, but I’m enjoying playing and I just want to play my best. The last few have been so tough, so hope for a good match tomorrow.”
