R2: it’s 3/1 for Farida against Simmie

[8] Farida Mohamed (EGY) 3-1 Sin Yuk Chan (HKG) 13-11, 11-13, 11-9, 11-9 (44m)

Stop start. Start stop. Stop start. Start… You get the drill.

Not the most fascinating of encounters, I’m not sure either of the girls will be over the moon with their performance… Lots of errors from both, lots of calls, some lovely winners of course, some bazookas from Farida, as usual… But I feel she is lucky today to get away with such an up and down, in and out performance…

Simmie : It’s very difficult to play a player who has a style like Farida, she is hitting the ball very hard, but when she attacks, it can a stunning winner, or a loud tin!

The rallies are always so short, I never managed to get into any rhythm, I couldn’t play my shots, and although I did get some opportunities, I was always rushed because the quality of her squash. So it was tough!

Farida : “It’s my first match in 2 months since my injury, I almost had surgery done so, it was challenging. Especially against Simmie, I knew how hard it would be, but I’m happy with my performance.

“I think I’m known for hard hitting and against her, it’s so tough to play good shots becasue she has such good shots herself. But I wanted to stay aggressive most of the time and thankfully it went well today.”
