R2: Jasmine 3-0 Hana

[7] Jasmine Hutton (ENG) 3-0 Hana Ramadan (EGY)  11-3, 11-5, 11-7 (26m)

Jasmine was extremely sharp tonight I felt. The presence of both her coach Miles Jenkins, her dad and her brother, not to mention boyfriend Charlie Lee was an incentive to make the match as short and painless as possible.

6m, 7m, 8m, that’s the length of the three games. Jas was a woman on a mission, oozing with confidence after her win in Canada a few days ago. Her shots had a purpose, they were accurate and perfectly executed.

Hana was not confident about the match at all. I felt it yesterday when I was chatting with her. She got on there not relaxed, I thought she was very tense from the start, and Jas immaculate and clinical performance didn’t really allowed her to take her marks on the glass.

A good spell for the Egyptian in the middle of the third, down 7/3, she managed to find a better purpose in her shots, more weight in the ball, and threatened the English lady, 7/9. But it wasn’t to be for Hana, and Jas closed the game and match 11/7 in the third…

Jasmine : “I feel quite lucky that I got to practice on this court on Sunday and Monday and I feel unluckily for Hana she could only practise on it this morning, plus she had a match on the side court yesterday – so I do feel like there is a bit of an advantage there.

“I’m really happy with how I played, and I thought I was really solid. I’m feeling pretty confident in the way that I am playing right now. I have played Hania a few times this year, so I’ll have to have a little look in on how to approach it.

“I’ve been improving and I feel I have been playing better this season. I’m looking forward to giving it another go on Friday.

“From a different perspective this season, I’m finding a lot more gratitude from all of my events. Sometimes you can be a bit complacent with all of the events you get to go to, and be a bit more privileged. So I’m just trying to appreciate the small things at events. For example here, I have a number of my friends and family here this week, so it’s very special.”
