World #2 and 2017 champion Mohamed ElShorbagy is set to face World #4 Karim Abdel Gawad in a mouthwatering title decider in the Channel VAS Championships which takes place from 19th to 24th November.
This will be the fifth edition of the PSA World Tour Gold tournament, which will be staged at the St. George’s Hill Lawn and Tennis Club in Weybridge, where a total prize fund of $106,000 will be on offer.
ElShorbagy is the top seed for the tournament once again, with fellow Egyptians Gawad, Mohamed Abouelghar and Marwan ElShorbagy also featured in the draw.
ElShorbagy has been drawn to meet Peru’s Diego Elias in the semi finals, while Gawad is seeded to meet 2016 champion Paul Coll in the bottom half of the draw.
The Kiwi caused a shock when he rose through qualifying to take the title, and he will return to Weybridge in November, where he will face either Arturo Salazar or Daryl Selby in the second round after receiving a first round bye.
Selby is one of seven Englishman to feature in the event alongside Declan James, Tom Richards, George Parker, Chris Simpson and Richie Fallows, ranked at numbers 20, 23, 40, 42 and 50, and the tournament’s wildcard Joe Lee, a former World #29 who is set to make his first PSA appearance since May 2017.
India’s Saurav Ghosal and Welshman Joel Makin are the 7th and 8th seeds and they are expected to face ElShorbagy and Coll in the quarter finals.
All matches will be shown live on SQUASHTV (Rest of World), Eurosport Player (Europe only) and the official Facebook page of the PSA World Tour (excluding Europe and Japan).
