It’s a second for Gawad

Karim Abdel Gawad claimed his second Optasia title with a straight-game victory over Youssef Soliman in the final. Both players had defies the seedings to reach the PSA GOLD final, where Gawad used his experience at this level to outplay Soliman, appearing in his first Gold level final, for large parts of the match.

“A year ago I didn’t have a chance to be on court, I didn’t think I’d be on court again,” said Gawad after the win, “I’m really happy and grateful to have another chance to be on court in front of an amazing crowd and doing what I love the most in my life.”
