Semi-Final Saturday : Asal and Coll win five game thrillers

The Optasia Championships 2025 continued today with four quarter-finals at The Wimbledon Club.

The end result was that the top seeds will contest both finals, but as in the quarters, there’s so much more to the story than that.

First up were the women’s semis, with Hania El Hammamy and Gina Kennedy winning in four games, Hammamy ending the reign of defending champion Satomi Watanabe.

The men’s semis were both five game thrillers, as Mostafa Asal came from two games down to beat Joel Makin while Paul Coll put in another astonishing effort to beat Mohamed ElShorbagy in five, as he did against Marwan yesterday.
