That match should have been a cracker. It was intense, fun, fair play, up down the court, the four corners used and abused. Incredible opening game, with the young contender with one game ball, 10/9, then another 11/10.
But at the point, Jonah dives to the left front corner, and lands awkwardly on his right shoulder. The PSA physio tries to assess and help, Jonah finishes the game courageously, bowing only 13/11 in 26m (23m real time), but cannot continue as the pain becomes unbearable for the young Englishman, 0/2 retired…
Diego :“That’s really sad to see, Jonah is an up-and-coming player so it’s not good to see him end the match like this. Hopefully, he gets back quickly because he has a very bright future and he’ll be one of the best very soon.
“I really don’t like this but seeing Jonah as my first match is not nice, he’s one of the best already so I have a day off tomorrow, so I just need to get ready for my next round.
“I’ve been injured so I really want to play. Now that I’m back, I want to get back to my best, so I want the court time and the battles.”
