“I thought I was spraying the ball everywhere the first game, I wasn’t accurate enough, and I know Balazs is a very skilful player and I knew he was going to take the ball in to the front, anytime I defended weakly he got on the volley and punished me for that, so he deserved the first game.
“I basically had to get better and I had to start taking on the front of the court, and I have been working on, I can’t come on here and beat someone like … at the back of the court, he’s too good. I thought I really improved as the match went on, and I was really happy by the thought of game, physically I am in good nick good order, happy I went through the gears, it prepares me for Thursday
“Mohamed’s one of the best of our generation, I think that goes without saying, no introduction or review for his career, always a pleasure and honour to step on the court with him, still playing at a high level and I feel like my game is going in a good direction, those are the kind of test I need, to try and beat players like that, but to have the chance to be on court with him again is something to look forward to.
“Of course, I went to 250th in the world a year and half ago, so I had to go back to the bottom … I was very glad to do so because I was back on court, and because I got to play 3,4,5 matches in a row.”
