World No.1 and top seed Nouran Gohar has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming Optasia Championships 2025 due to injury.
The Egyptian has been struggling with a knee issue in 2025 and hasn’t been able to recover in time for the latest Gold level event on the PSA Squash Tour calendar.
Seven-time World Champion Nour ElSherbini takes Gohar’s position as the top seed whilst World No.3 Hania El Hammamy moves to the top of the draw as the No.2 seed.
Defending champion Satomi Watanabe has moved to a top four seeding spot, sitting in the same side of the draw as El Hammamy. If she is to achieve her seeding she may need to come through a potential tough quarter final clash with now No.7 seed Amanda Sobhy.
Local favourite Jasmine Hutton has become a top eight seed due to Gohar’s withdrawal. Hutton recently claimed the Copper event tile at the Calgary CFO Consulting Services PSA Women’s Squash Week 2025 and will be looking to continue her good form in front of friends and family. She’ll play the winner of Hana Ramandan and the player taking the vacant spot in the draw, Nicole Bunyan.
