The 2026 Optasia Championships got under way today at The Wimbledon Club with sixteen Round One matches on two courts. Today’s winners will meet the seeded players in Round Two, which takes place over the following two days.
Thirteen of the 9/16 seeds won their expected places in Round Two, with Torrie Malik, Ramit Tandon and Haya Ali upsetting the seedings.

This year’s Women’s event is headed by World number one and two Hania El Hammamy and Nour ElSherbini, who will be aiming not just for the title but for the number one spot. 2024 winner Satomi Watanabe and 2025 runner-up Gina Kennedy are the 3rd and 4th seeds so competition will be fierce.
The men’s draw features seven of the world’s top ten, headed by world #1 and defending champion Mostafa Asal. Three former world champions – Karim Abdel Gawad, Diego Elias and Mohamed ElShorbagy are also in the draw, with home favourites Joel Makin and Marwan ElShorbagy also in the mix.
