Charlie Lee (ENG) 3-0 Raphael Kandra (GER) 11-5, 11-7, 11-3 (32m)
In just his second World Event start since suffering a long-term back injury, Lee displayed the form which had previously seen him climb as high as World No.43 back in September 2023
The Englishman needed just 32 minutes to wrap up the win in front of a fervent home crowd inside The Wimbledon Club, moving through to set up a tie with No.7 seed Youssef Ibrahim.

Charlie
“I am glad that years behind me now, had some issues with my back and it went on for a long time so just being back here playing, I’m enjoying every minute and travelling and playing again.
“It was a really tough year being out for so long and it felt like I was building a head of steam just before that, finally breaking in to the big events, the rug was pulled from beneath me in a way. To be back on this stage and then to win is a bonus as well and I’m just slowly building back now, and I hope I can keep it going”
“Its not often you have so many friends and family in one place at once, so it’s a weird thing having to completely ignore everyone before a match but now I can see everyone and enjoy the win and go into the next round which I am going for the win again”
“Youssef’s extremely skillfull, he’s a great player all around. We grew up in the juniors quite close in ages, so we played a few times there, and I don’t think we have played as adults, so that will be interesting, and I am just really looking forward to another match.”
