Jonah Bryant (ENG) 3-1 Auguste Dussourd (FRA) 11-8, 11-4, 7-11, 11-9 (63m)
Jonah Bryant continued his fine form on the PSA Squash Tour by defeating recent Australian Open semi-finalist Auguste Dussourd in four games.
The Englishman was forced to fight right until the end of a stop-start encounter, which lasted just over the an hour mark, eventually taking the win by an 11-8, 11-4, 7-11, 11-9 scoreline.
Jonah:
“It was a good win. I’ve started to get into these bigger tournaments and you need to beat these guys to get through the first round. Tomorrow I’m playing [Karim] Gawad and I’ve been watching him since I was 10, I’m going to go out and give it everything but it’s also going to be a great experience.
“He had a good tournament in Australia reaching the semis and it’s always tough to back up a couple of weeks later when you’ve gone from such a high. I don’t think either of us played our best game and it was a bit of a dog fight and I’m happy to get through.
“My overall quality needs to be a lot better tomorrow, but I think my movement was quite good which got me out of trouble a few times but I shouldn’t rely on that much.”
